Show off your costumes. Treats along the way provided by the Swarthmore Merchants! (Please no very scary costumes or weapons.) The parade will end with a fun, short song and story time with children's librarian Mr. Scott and teaching artist Ms. Allison at the amphitheater in front of Swarthmore Public Library/Borough Bldg. If raining parade will be cancelled but song and stories will be moved into the borough building at 121 Park Avenue. Sprinkle Some Yoga Joy Around the World on Saturday, June 21st from 10 - 11 AM! Join Allison DeSalvo's "YogAmi" for a nature inspired outdoor celebration in honor of International Day of Yoga—a special event observed around the world each year! Be part of this global movement with your children through yoga play, music, storytelling and art. We’ll stretch like trees, breathe with the breeze, and through partner poses and group yoga games, connect with nature, ourselves and each other. No experience needed—just bring your sense of adventure, and a towel or yoga mat if you have one. If it’s too hot or the raindrops join us, we’ll head indoors and keep the fun flowing! Snake!”, an original performance of traditional “budaixi” Chinese glove puppetry, will be performed by artists of the internationally acclaimed Chinese Theatre Works from New York City! Bring the whole family to this joyful celebration of Pan-Asian American Heritage Month featuring the 12 animals of the Chinese zodiac, fronted by this year’s star, Snake, who presides over a selection of wild puppet skits, dances and songs. The event also includes craft-making activities, tasty dumplings, and an interactive Q & A with the artists in a hands-on puppet demonstration before and after the show. Don’t miss this rare puppet theatre-storytelling program and Chinese bilingual cultural enrichment event! Geared for families with kids two to 10 years old. CINCO de MAYO FIESTA
SUNDAY MAY 5TH @ 5 - 6:30 PM Join the Fiesta and celebrate “Cinco de Mayo!'' Mexican culture and heritage will come to life with the return of “Nuuxakun” a children’s Mexican Folkloric Dance Group. This community-family based company will perform traditional dances of the holiday in colorful costumes culminating in a parade and pinata fun for take home treats and audience participation. Interactive activities include a classic Spanish song sing-a-long, themed face painting with creative artist Dayesla Ixtli, making paper flower garlands and egg maracas, enjoying tacos, chips and salsa. Other special guests include Mexican art and culture writer, journalist, Leticia Roa Nixon of Philatinos Media along with their director Olga Renteria, co-hosting for a bi-lingual exchange. Don’t miss this creative arts immersion experience of Mexico. The “Family Fun Arts & Culture” Series are community events hosted by the PAC Center once a season that feature curated live arts programming geared towards young audiences. Programs provide engaging, educational and authentic cultural experiences with the goal of inspiring creativity and curiosity about the world. This series encourages enrichment learning and builds diversity in our neighborhoods through exposure to performances by native artists and educators. Come celebrate the Chinese New Year filled with the traditional customs featuring a Lion Dance Parade, music, crafts and foods bringing good luck with this New Year holiday featuring local artists and educators. Kids can make a variety of traditional and symbolic crafts, lead by Mandarin language teacher, Shujing Ding of Ding Ding Language Center, participate in a Lion Dance Parade with music, be entertained by a traditional Chinese dance performance from the Penn Chinese Dance Club.and enjoy delicious dumplings, spring rolls, fruits and fortune cookies. Celebrate Diwali’s Festival of Light!
Experience this festival of light through the traditional music, dance, art and culinary tastes of India during this joyful holiday! This cultural immersion program of traditional Indian music, dance, arts, foods and more will feature local artists. Kids can paint diyas’-clay pots, lead by Rinal Parikh and create colorful rongoli designs. The extraordinary Iyer family returns to present classical Kathak dance and Garba with sticks performed by Anita Singh and her daughter as well as a lively percussion and interactive demonstration by master musician Sriram Balasubramanian accompanied by his son and more. Participants make and take bell anklets and everyone can enjoy eating samosas and stuffing naan breads with biryani rice and tikka masala followed by sweet gulab jamun treats. The celebration culminates with a Bollywood dance party and outside fun lighting up the night with sparklers. |

Cinco de Mayo Fiesta
May 5th from 5:30 - 7pm Holiday traditions will be brought to life through interactive activities such as learning a classic Mexican step-dance, making tissue paper flowers and colorful maracas, rolling tacos to eat along with chips and salsa. Children will learn about the story of the festival with local special guests: Mexican art and culture ambassador, Leticia Roa Nixon, and experience a performance by the Philadelphia's folkloric children's dance group Nuuxakun, afterward teaching the steps to the audience. Catch a ride on the music train through a joy filled festival of songs for the season. Come sing and dance along for this year’s charity, “Gratitude 4 Grandparents” (G4G) in appreciation of grandparents and the instrumental role they play in our lives. Accompanied by the WOS band, DeSalvo performs a lively, interactive mix of traditional and original tunes from folk to Americana celebrating family, autumn time wonders, with animal fun, a pop-up turkey and more. She’ll be joined by special guests, and an aspiring child author reading with video her inspired story “Love Is Everywhere”. This annual event gets kids helping other kids in need promoting gratitude in the spirit of ‘thanks & giving’! Program includes face-painting, craft time, food and refreshments.

The parade will end with a fun, short story time with librarian Scott at the amphitheater in front of Swarthmore Public Library/Borough Bldg. The parade will end with a fun, short story time with librarian Scott at the amphitheater in front of Swarthmore Public Library/Borough Bldg.

Sing, dance and jingle along in this fun filled festival of songs for the whole family celebrating Christmas, Hannukah, and Kwanzaa as part of Swarthmore's 'Home for the Holidays' tradition!
Join Allison & Friends at this annual concert fundraiser in support of this year's charity, Anabelle's Wish, bringing children together in support of other children in need. Enjoy classic holiday tunes, original and traditional songs from around the world all warming the heart in the spirit of "thanks and giving". Accompanied by guitar and percussion, Allison uses instruments, puppets, stories and art creating a unique and joyfully interactive,
celebratory program each year.

Kick Off the Holiday Season at our Holiday Party!
Sing, dance and jingle along in this fun filled festival of songs for the whole family celebrating Christmas, Hannukah, and Kwanzaa as part of Swarthmore's 'Home for the Holidays' tradition!
Join Allison & Friends at this annual concert fundraiser in support of this year's charity, Anabelle's Wish, bringing children together in support of other children in need. Enjoy classic holiday tunes, original and traditional songs from around the world all warming the heart in the spirit of "thanks and giving". Accompanied by guitar and percussion, Allison uses instruments, puppets, stories and art creating a unique and joyfully interactive,
celebratory program each year.
Event includes concert, art activities, face painting, food and refreshments,
as well as crafter's tables of specialty handmade items for sale!

Swarthmore's Annual Halloween Tots Parade
Friday, October 30th @ 4:00 pm It’s "Time" for Halloween in Swarthmore! Kids 0 – 6 years (siblings welcome!) are invited to come dressed up in costume and enjoy parading with Ms. Rosemary and Ms. Allison, through downtown to the delight of passersby and shop merchants ready to greet you with goodies for trick or treat. (Please no very scary costumes or weapons.) Starting point will be at THATCHER PARK, known as the “Tot Lot”, on Rutgers Avenue at 4pm. The parade will end with a fun, short story time at the Swarthmore Public Library/Borough Bldg. If raining please come directly to the library at 121 Park Ave for an indoor parade and storytime. Interactive Art Stroll for Kids in Media
Turn around and what to do you see -
a Picasso looking at me!
Join me for “Go Inside Out”, a kid friendly art stroll of select masterpieces from ‘inside the Philadelphia Museum of Art brought out’ and into our community. The interactive walking tour, geared for young children 2 – 7, will include songs, coloring/drawing, kids yoga, “I Spy” games, and improvised stories on the spot, relating to 7 out of the 11 installations on display throughout the town of Media. Children will receive a souvenir bag and need to be accompanied by an adult.
The tours are free and open to the public and families are welcome to bring a picnic to enjoy at the conclusion of each event. No Reservations Necessary.
All tours begin at the Plum Street Mall at Jasper Street.
Bring water, strollers, hats, comfortable shoes, and get ready to GO Inside Out!
Tours cancelled in the case of inclement weather, check website for updates, except on 2nd Saturday July 11 indoor program will be held at the Media Arts Council/Center Gallery at 609 W. State Street.

Hi Everyone, please join me for this cultural enrichment program for the whole family. Learn about the customs and traditions of this festive annual celebration and I will also share some fun facts from my trip to China last summer! Welcome the Year of the Goat with stories, songs, music, puppets, some kids yoga too and a simple craft. Children will have lots of fun making a lion dance parade for the celebration! (Wear red for good luck and bring your noise-makers! optional)
